Metering of Drinking Water
To ensure that our customers are charged fairly, the City of Lindale uses meters to measure water consumption. Your meter is read monthly by a trained meter reader. The computer will reject any unusual reading that is out of your normal usage pattern. This feature ensures that meters are read accurately with a small degree of variance. If the reading appears too high or too low, another meter reading will be taken before your bill is prepared. Even though we strive for perfection, on rare occasions a meter will be misread. If you ever have a question about your meter reading or your water bill, please call us. We will be happy to check it out for you.

Billing & Payment Procedures Residential
Water meters are read around the 18th of each month. Bills are mailed on the last working day of each month. Any time you do not get a bill in the mail by the 5th of the month, please call our office and we will be happy to look up your total. Bill payments are due by midnight of the 14th of the month (see date due on the bill you receive by mail). All bills not paid by midnight on the 14th are charged a $10 late fee, if over $100, late fee will be 10% of bill. All bills not paid by midnight of the 24th of the month are subject to disconnect on the 25th and an administrative fee of $25 will be charged.

There is a $25 fee charged for returned checks and/or returned bank drafts. Returned checks and bank drafts may also cause water to be disconnected and re-connect fee will also be charged.

Automatic Bank Draft
An easy way to pay your water utility bill is to sign up for bank drafting. There is no cost to you and your payment will automatically be drafted from your bank account on a monthly basis. You will still receive your monthly bill so you can monitor your water usage. To start bank drafting call City Hall or print the bank draft agreement (PDF). Complete and return it with your next regular payment.

Garbage Collection
Your water bill includes city charges for:
  • Sanitation (garbage collection)
  • Tax
  • Wastewater (sewer)
  • Water
We charge for the removal of:
  • Brush
  • Bulky items
  • Garbage
  • Rubbish
State law allows taxation on the sanitation fee.

Trash Pickup
Trash pickup service for City of Lindale is contracted by Allied Waste Services. Their phone number is 1-800-Mr. Trash (1-800-678-7274). Trash pickup is done every Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, depending on your area, anytime after 6:30 a.m. All household trash must be in good strong bags, tied securely. Twelve items will be picked up each week. This would include household trash, leaves and bundles of sticks. Small bundles of sticks will be picked up if neatly tied up (bundles cannot be over 3 feet in length).

Items Unable to Pick Up
Please note, no pickup is available for:
  • 55 gallons drums
  • Batteries
  • Oil or oil filters
  • Tires
  • Wet paint (If paint lid is off and paint is dry you may put it in the trash.)
Please place trash at the curb or road to make sure it gets picked up.

Holiday Pickup
Pickup will be done on all holidays, except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. If these holidays fall on your pickup day, pickup will be done the following day.
